Hiring Range: $79,185.60 - $104,395.20/Year. It is anticipated that the hiring rate offered will be +/- the midpoint range depending on qualifications.
This position will assist in directing and coordinating activities concerned with day-to-day operations and maintenance of the Bulk Terminal and related facilities and equipment while supporting the Bulk Terminal Operations Manager and Group Supervisor. Additionally, this position will provide oversight, support, and guidance, ensuring quality and safety efforts are thoroughly complied with.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Contributes to the day-to-day operation of the Bulk Terminal and assigned facilities
Ensures equipment inspections are correctly completed, and issues are addressed on time, including fault checks and troubleshooting procedures
Evaluates the plans, schedules, and contributes to the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the Bulk Terminal, related facilities, and equipment, ensuring quality and safety are integrated in all aspects
Assists the BT leadership in developing and recommending changes to material handling systems to improve efficiency, safety, and housekeeping
Gains and maintains the knowledge required to operate facility equipment
Gains and maintains the knowledge required to train operators on terminal equipment
Assists the supervisor with the evaluations of facility programs for personnel safety, loss prevention, housekeeping sanitation, federal and state environmental requirements, safety and health regulatory requirements, etc., and implement changes as required
Maintains knowledge of requirements for products handled to assure the maintenance of product integrity, conformance with applicable regulatory requirements, and personnel safety
Interfaces with product owners and handlers to coordinate handling requirements, timing, and delivery as required or designated by the BT leadership
Interfaces with railroads, stevedores, agents, and other maritime personnel to coordinate the timely and efficient movement of cargo, as required
Assists the supervisor with the evaluations of staffing needs and make recommendations for changes when necessary
Ensures CMMS is being used for equipment and terminal maintenance, is completed correctly, and is tracked
Maintains good employee relations, encourages motivation for crew to achieve work goals, and aids other employees to achieve maximum departmental efficiency
Performs related duties as assigned
CPR certified or the ability to become CPR certified within the first year of employment
Tier 1 status designation
CANDIDATE PROFILE
The preferred candidate for this position should be an organized, reliable, perceptive, thorough, and disciplined individual with an exceptional work ethic in completing tasks and a focus on maintaining optimal integrity supporting the PCCA. They must possess the following:
EDUCATION & CREDENTIALS
A high school diploma or equivalent is required
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred
Must possess the ability to obtain quality control credentials associated with terminal operations within two years of employment
Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) during the course of employment
Valid driver’s license
EXPERIENCE & JOB KNOWLEDGE
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
Must possess thorough knowledge of federal and state regulations governing the safe and effective handling of commodities through the facility
Previous experience writing reports and business correspondence
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public
Good basic mathematical skills, including the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Five years of experience in the supervision of operations and maintenance personnel or equivalent acceptable experience
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Must possess considerable judgment to safely and efficiently operate and maintain equipment
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Previous experience in interpreting an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form
Proficiency in MS Office, including Word and Excel, Outlook, and other related applications
Ability to understand, interpret, and apply all PCCA policies, promote and adhere to the SEAPORT values, and state/federal laws
Maintains good employee relations and encourage and foster a helpful environment where teamwork prevails; assists senior management and office staff where appropriate
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Ability to perform essential job functions, including but not limited to frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking or hearing, typing, and occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, lifting, and/or moving up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces, climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands. Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp/handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows/knees, and reach above/below shoulders
Ability to work in a general office environment, and on a work site with exposure to adverse weather conditions, fumes and /or air particulates, working in high precarious places, risk of electrical shock and moving mechanical parts, moderate noise levels and working at heights, ability to wear personnel protective equipment, including hard hat, steel toed footwear, eye and hearing protection when performing work functions
Ability to operate mechanical and electrical equipment and light-weight highway vehicles, standard office equipment, and to work the requisite hours to fulfill position objectives, including evenings and/or weekends, as needed
