The Area Coordinator (AC) is a live-in, full-time professional responsible for the development and promotion of community engagement and residential education at Lynn University. This individual will provide leadership and support for all initiatives, services, and efforts offered by the Office of Housing and Residence Life. Efforts will support the mission of the University and the goals of the Division of Student Affairs. This individual will work closely with students, parents, and all stakeholders to foster a positive residential living community. This is a 12-month, full time, live-in position with on-call responsibilities. Essential duties and responsibilities include serving as the primary administrator for assigned residential facilities, managing facility, community building, housing assignments, staff supervision, and student advocacy and support. Provide direct supervision, evaluation, and support to para-professional Senior Resident Assistants (SRAs) and Resident Assistants (RAs), hold them accountable for deadlines, serve as an advisor, hold weekly meetings, facilitate groups, lead staff meetings, conduct staff appraisals, administer staff training, develop community development models, document inappropriate behavior, serve as a conduct review officer, participate in on-call rotation, maintain facility awareness, assist with safety procedures, identify and assist residents with issues, address behavioral concerns, serve as a University “First Responder” for crisis situations, and maintain professionalism. The position requires evening and weekend hours, live-on residency, and on-call responsibilities. Additional duties include assisting with departmental assessments, policy maintenance, campus-wide programming, serving on committees, and other duties as assigned. Minimum qualifications include a master’s degree in higher education or equivalent, practical experience in housing and residence life, strong relationship building skills, knowledge of student development theory, excellent communication skills, passion for student development, conflict resolution skills, commitment to diversity and equal opportunity, and ability to work collaboratively.
