Position Summary

WMF is seeking an Archives Intern to help organize and manage the large amount of photography, videography, publications, and other assets that have stemmed from WMF projects. The person will also assist with the digitization and distribution of multimedia materials across global offices to help maintain and curate consistent framing and visibility of WMF projects. This is an in-person position, working 16 - 24 hours per week at WMF’s Headquarters in New York.

Responsibilities

· Organize and catalogue the WMF’s large, existing collection of photography, videography, publications, and other assets

· Oversee the digitization of select physical archives

· Process assets and multimedia from WMF staff with metadata

· Conduct asset and WMF project research as needed by departments to assist in visual messaging and storytelling

· Assist with WMF record keeping projects such as tracking signage visibility at WMF sites, inventory of swag and collateral, and deliveries ensuring that projects progress according to plan

· Distribute multimedia materials across global offices to help maintain consistent framing and visibility of WMF’s work

· Assist with collections, archives, and digital asset usage internally and externally

· Support the communications team with other projects as needed 

Qualifications

· Student majoring in communications, museum studies, anthropology, historic preservation, international relations, public relations, marketing or related field preferred

· Demonstrated success in arranging, describing, and processing archival collections

· Intermediate experience working in Airtable or other project management systems

· Familiarity with basic preservation of archival materials, including proper handling, housing, and storage

· Awareness of current developments, trends and emerging technologies in the field of archives and records management

· Knowledge of photography, ability to determine the quality/resolution of existing files

· Knowledge of Adobe Bridge or other digital asset management software Comfort taking the initiative in new settings and knowing when to ask adept questions

· Ability to work well both independently and in a collaborative environment

· Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

· Experience with or interest in digitization projects

· An interest in cultural heritage preservation is a plus 

· Excellent organizational skills including accuracy and a strong attention to detail
